Royal wedding watchers: IT’S ALL HAPPENING. We learned back in March that Meghan Markle had chosen Claire Ptak, who Markle previously interviewed for her former blog, The Tig, to bake the cake for her wedding to Prince Harry. And at that time, Kensington Palace released a statement announcing the cake’s flavor would be lemon elderflower.
Well, the time is just about upon us, and Ptak’s Violet Bakery in East London is getting the work underway for the confection that spawned a million speculations.
The bakery shared an image on Instagram showing stacked crates of fresh lemons in a kitchen environment. The caption? “And so it begins.”
Among the comments were such sentiments as, “No pressure!” Indeed.
Others sent their well wishes from the across the pond: Ptak was raised in California.
In its March release about the cake, Kensington Palace said: “Prince Harry and Ms. Markle have asked Ms. Ptak to create a lemon elderflower cake to incorporate the bright flavours of spring. It will be covered with buttercream and decorated with fresh flowers. They are very much looking forward to sharing this cake with their wedding guests on May 19th.”
And guess what? Yes — gasp! — that day is just. about. here.
