Yolanda Hadid‘s Lyme disease is fortunately in remission, but that has not slowed down The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum in her active pursuits to become as healthy as possible. She has looked outside of Western medicine and into the alternative area of Ayurveda, an ancient Indian healing system.
“Being a woman influenced by our western culture, we tend to look outside ourselves for the solution to our health problems, most often in the form of a pill,” she wrote on Instagram. “Although in remission from Lyme disease I still battle chronic inflammation and toxic stress which also compromises the immune system. I’ve turned to Mother Earth these past couple of years as she has so much to offer us holistically.”
This included a week-long Ayurvedic treatment program called Panchakarma, which she described as “a mind-body healing regimen for detoxifying the body, strengthening the immune system, and restoring balance and well-being. It is one the most effective healing modality in Ayurvedic medicine using oils and herbal formulas while following a strict vegetarian diet.”
Therapeutic activities within the Panchakarma treatment might include herbal oil massages for the muscles and lymphatic system, sound therapy and herbal enemas. Paired with transcendental meditation, she’s starting to feel the “powerful effects it has on my well being especially as I am getting back to the 24/7 plugged in world that never ever stops.”
After relocating from California to upstate New York, Yolanda is discovering even more about farming and making her own healing aides.
“I’m growing so many things right now, and I’m reading a book about lavender, essential oils, and how to build a distillery to actually make my own essential oils at home,” Yolanda recently told W Magazine. Her botanical journey might even lead her to develop her own brand of gin. “Botanicals and farming and things are really what I’m wrapped up in at the moment,” she said.
